We care. A lot.
And not just because
it’s ‘cool’ now.

A Passion For Thrilling

For lovers of colour, print and with frills that are a thrill to wear. We create unapologetic fashion garments that turn heads and empower the people who wear them.

Lovingly Crafted

Since launching Havilah Arendse, founder, has maintained high values for zero waste sustainability, upholding valid fabric certifications and inspiring a fashion culture with inclusions of all people. We believe a better world starts here as we strive to continue a journey of opening new doors, acknowledging but refusing to continue with old ways.

Our people, our planet,
our problem.

Sustainability & Transparancy

We know we’re not perfect but hey who is? At Havilah
we do the best we can by being very mindful of the
impact we make in the fashion industry have on our
precious planet. We are always working on ways
to become a more sustainable, transparent
and circular economy.

We understand we have a popular ethos that many
brands strive to do and we are thrilled to part of the
change in cycle, to us this is a norm and part of our
mindset – we hope it's ever growing in the
fashion community.

We're Stepping Up

Movement In Action

As a small business we are constantly working
on ways to confront our carbon footprint.
We take steps in calculating our emissions and
offsetting them where possible.

We’re actively working on the UN Sustainable Development
Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption & Production.
We use small certified mills in India and Turkey for
our Organic Cotton’s. Along with bigger accredited
mills for our Recycled Polyesters, Repreve and Thread
International which are all certified and accredited
companies making a good impact on our planet.
We also source from local wholesalers that source
fabrics from designers who have surplus that would
otherwise be disposed of in our landfills.

We use a zero waste approach to our designs,
minimising our production waste at the initial
craft stage. We keep any leftover fabric scraps
for various small projects such as pet bandanas,
scrunchies and protective face masks.

Our People

We’re thrilled to have partnered with Rare Disorders New Zealand and will be donating $5 per garment sold on our online store to help them raise funds for their ongoing work.

People are a big part of why we can do what we do and we’re so thankful to everyone involved in Havilah and care about their health and welfare which is why we believe in fair pay, workers rights and safe working conditions for all. Our Machinists sew from their homes and get paid a living wage, the fabric mills that we work with are paid fair wages and as well as being family owned they are accredited as safe and sustainable mills.

It's All About
The Fabrics

Verification

Each country has differing laws and regulations for appropriate working conditions and processes. Third party certifications such as GOTS, GRS and Oeko-Tex help us navigate this although we do work with some small suppliers who are yet to be certified. Certifications can be incredibly expensive and we want to support small businesses who we know are doing amazing things but who cannot yet afford certification.
